Remember Rose

This is a song I wrote with asylum seekers from Syria and Iran, who I met on my weekly visit to a refugee center in Brussels, Belgium. The first verse honors the memory of a young girl who was killed by bombs in Saraqib. The Arabic word “shaheed” means “martyr.” The second verse is a call for all people to be accepted, regardless of religion. The words “Baza, baza,” are Dari for “Come back, come back.”
